Ok, ok. I’ll get a crock pot! I really, really, really, really don’t want one, and not just because it takes up room, but because “owning a crock pot” to me is right up there with “darning socks” and “knitting tea cozies”… Grandma territory. But my best friend, who is super cute and pretty hip, has one, and she loves it. So at least I’ll be in good company. I’m not a huge fan of “stewy” food, either, but maybe I’ll get used to it? At any rate, it’ll be nice to have something to cook rice in. I am absolutely CRUDDY at making rice! It’s unbelievable, and humorous, how terrible mine turns out.
What kind should I get?

Squashy, you silly thing, you can make LOADS of stuff in a crock, not just stew-y stuff. You can even make bread, and dessert! You’re crock will most likely come with a small pamphlet of recipies, to get you started, but there are tons on the web.
We have a whopping big one, but they come in several sizes, so you can choose which one would be right for you and dh.

I make rice in the microwave. It makes a mess, but I just rinse my turntable off after.
I put it in a corning-ware dish with a glass lid: 1 c. rice to 2 c. water. Nuke on high 5 min., then nuke on half power 15 min. Comes out perfect every time. It boils over a bit, like I said, but somehow the rice is perfect!
